Celebrate, Connect, Grow

2012, Textile installation

A Project for the Mental Health Week 2012, Hornsby Council, NSW, Australia

Two workshops were held for families and children, enabling them to participate in the artwork by weaving their small pieces of the web.

Participants were encouraged to bring along recycled materials representing an essential aspect of their life, such as their cultural heritage.

This material was intertwined with recycled yarn, ribbon, rope, and other items.

Chosen to represent the theme of "Celebrate, Connect, Grow", the artwork celebrates the mind and our diversity.

The weaving connects the trees while we connect.

The trees symbolise growth as we raise awareness about mental health with the growing families in Hornsby Shire.
