CCC - Cheng Long Community Craft Centre

Client:

Year:

CCC is a communal project to enhance interaction and co-creation and raise awareness of sustainability and the importance of being an active community member.
Recycled textiles from the local community were repurposed to create valuable products that could express the character and history of Cheng Long Village for the first community market, held in November 2019.
The villagers' interaction led to the project's development towards creating a shared space to make objects that met the locals' ideas and ideals, embodying the different sides of Cheng Long Village: modernity, history, industry, and creativity. By creating a hub for discussion and co-creation and reusing old objects and materials to transform them into new goods, the participants reflect on sustainability and become aware of the path of transformation from one object to another. Every community member was welcome to join the activities: children, adults, and the elderly were encouraged to share their ideas and opinions. The project involved new people from the village who became active in the community association's activities. Like any other participant, the artist joined the think tank and the making team, sharing knowledge and techniques. The project's participants designed, developed and professionally created objects from beginning to end. Cheng Long's Nature, history, and daily life were transposed in every object.
