The title suggests the gentle but breaking power of a drop of water, the vital strength of this element.
The installation celebrates water, an essential natural resource for the planet that should be preserved and cherished. As a waterfall, the three-dimensional tapestry springs from the top of a cliff and flows down over the slope to create swirls on the ground. The primary material for the work is recycled and eco-friendly yarn produced by Ledaal Teppeveveri, a traditional weaving workshop in Stavanger, Norway. The colourful yarn is made with old and unique machines that twist three different coloured woollen threads around a thick inner jute core. The material is then woven, knotted and entwined to convey the movement and power of a natural waterfall. This dense structure provides resistance and durability for the large tapestry.
