Years of paper

YEARS OF PAPER begins with a large roll of paper from Yilan’s former paper mill. During the construction period, the paper is gradually unfolded, folded, and shaped into pages that fill the windows of the historic façade.

This process becomes the first chapter of the work. Through repeated gestures of handling, folding, carrying, and arranging, the paper accumulates traces of its making. Some remain visible, while others disappear within its folds.

Once installed, the pages continue to change. Exposed to sunlight, wind, rain, and humidity, the paper registers the passing of time and the conditions of the place.

YEARS OF PAPER approaches the book not as a container for text, but as a material surface on which time is written. Visible marks and concealed folds gather the traces of making, encounters, and environmental change. Throughout the exhibition, the installation gradually becomes a book of time.
